I’m a Bad Cook

I’m terrible at making food; I just never was able to get the hang of it. Even when I was in junior high school, taking a Home Ec class, when we got to the cooking portion of the class, I had to rely on everyone else to do everything for me. Now that I’m not living with my parents anymore, I pretty much exclusively eat food from restaurants and things that I can microwave or make sandwiches of.

I seriously can’t understate how bad of a cook I am though; I’m such a bad cook that I might confuse vegetable oil for Mercury oil, and I can’t imagine that would lead to good-tasting food or a working boat. I can barely toast things properly. I’m not sure specifically what led to my failures as a cook, though my parents making all of my meals for me while I lived with them didn’t especially help.

Hole in My Boat

There’s a hole in my boat and it’s been a pretty big pain in my rear end. I was minding my business out on my boat not too long ago, when the bottom of the boat got scraped up against some pointy rocks. Unfortunately, as I was trying to get the boat off of the rocks, it hit one in the wrong way and now there’s a hole. It wasn’t enough to make the boat sink, but it’s certainly affecting the boat’s performance.

I thought I’d be more prepared for something like this, but I guess I didn’t think that far ahead. I just figured that if I kept my boat loaded up with Mercury oil, I’d never have any problems, but I neglected to think about the other things that could potentially happen to my boat that weren’t directly related to the engine.

The Mall

I don’t get a chance to go to the mall as often as I’d like to; I honestly like shopping, even though I know a lot of guys aren’t into it. I find it relaxing to go to the mall and just kind of walk around for hours and check things out. I’ll mess around with electronics or I’ll go into a Brookstone or something and take a look at all of the fun massage chairs and take a look at things I might want for my home.

The most recent time I went to the mall was particularly because I needed some new nice clothes after some moths got to one of my favorite suits. I did some clothes shopping for a while and then I went to a place that sold DVDs and CDs. Afterwards, I went online to purchase a couple of bottles of Mercury oil for my boat. I may love the mall, but there’s no good boating goods store at the mall near me!

Fishing in Montana

I recently went fishing with some friends in Montana. We went to this place called Bean Lake and we had a grand time. My friend’s parents have a cabin out there in Montana and we decided it would be a good place to hang out during our summer vacation between our junior and senior year in college.

My buddy was able to take his parents’ boat out as long as the rest of us pitched in for maintenance supplies and whatnot. For instance, one of my friends was in charge of getting the stuff we’d need to clean the boat, and I was in charge of picking up some Mercury oil so that we could make sure that the boat got the oil changes and everything else that it needed.

I Will Go Down with My Ship

I went through a pretty annoying experience recently: to sum things up succinctly, my boat sank. It was pretty awful; what happened was that my boat got caught up on some rocks and upon getting it off of those rocks, a piece of one of the rocks broke off and violently smashed enough of a hole in my boat to make it start going under.

Having been a fan of boating for so long, I never thought I’d have to experience my boat sinking. It was pretty awful and it’s given me a bit of distaste towards boating, at least for the time being. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing a new boat anytime soon, that is. I boxed up all of my bottles of Mercury oil and gave it to my best friend, who recently bought his own boat, because I don’t think I’ll be needing it anytime in the near future.

The Spade-Toothed Whale

Recently, specimens of the spade-toothed whale were identified from carcasses that had washed up in New Zealand. These spade-toothed whales are the rarest large mammals on the planet whose existence have been confirmed. In the past two hundred years, there have hardly even been five sightings of this whale, even though it is definitively a separate species from other types of beaked whales.

As someone who’s always wanted to find rare species of animal, this discovery has intrigued me to no end. To think that there’s such a large animal that’s remained essentially hidden for all these years means that who knows what else is out there. I think that what I’m going to do is pick up some Mercury oil for my boat and go out on the ocean to see if I can’t find something rare and interesting myself.

Perhaps a Mermaid, but Probably Not

I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I swear that the last time I went out on my boat, I saw a mermaid. It might have had something to do with the fact that I hadn’t eaten in a couple of days and I was dehydrated and hungover and I had dropped my glasses overboard at the time, but I’m still pretty sure that’s what I saw.

My friends have pointed out to me all of the reasons why I probably didn’t see what I thought I saw, but I’m an optimist and I’m a believer. I’ve decided that I’m going to see if I can find the mermaid again under similar circumstances in the same place. I’m going to load my boat up with Mercury oil and make sure everything’s all set before I go out and try to find her again.

Getting Back on the Water

I live in Washington State, so we get a lot of weather that’s not really great as boating weather. It definitely rains a lot during the spring and the fall and it can get quite a bit too cold or snowy during the winter. Because of this, sometimes I’ll go through fairly long periods of time before I can go boating again; usually my last trip is in October and I can’t go out again until March or April.

There were a few things I needed to do when spring was ending to get my boat prepared. I like to give it a good cleaning before I do anything else. Then I get the supplies I need to deal with its maintenance. When I was almost done, all I needed was a fresh bottle of Mercury 2 stroke oil and I’d be ready to hit the open water.

Solving Tough Times with a Boat Trip

I’ve been having a bit of a rough month. My ex-wife and I just went through a messy divorce and the economy has resulted in me having to receive a pay cut at work, which isn’t great now that alimony is in the mix. It’s all had me a bit down in the dumps, even though I’m a fairly optimistic person generally.

Recently, I really had the straw that broke the camel’s back. My best friend got a new job in Ohio, and even though I’m happy for him, it’s no fun knowing that my friend’s moving away at a time like this. It made me feel like busting out the bulk Mercury Optimax oil I purchased a while back, fixing up my boat, and hitting the open water.

Catch and Release

I went with my dad to Banks Lake for Labor Day weekend. He had gone out there a few times before with his buddies on his new boat but I hadn’t yet gone out there with him. He’s big on fishing so that’s what we decided we would do out there; we were fishing with on a catch and release basis.

When we got back home, my mom asked us why we hadn’t brought home any fish for her to cook up. Next time we go out there maybe we will. As long as we’ve got some Mercury Optimax oil, we’ll be able to go there again and actually bring back some fish to eat.

Scared of Sharks

When I saw Jaws in theaters as a kid, it terrified me. I couldn’t go into any body of water for years; I was always afraid that I’d see a dorsal fin moving towards me and I’d start to hear that music in my head and then I’d be done for. That being said, before Jaws, I used to love the water. I loved boating with my family as a child and I had hoped that someday I’d be able to do it with a family of my own.

Now that I have that family, I’ve had to recognize how irrational my fear of sharks is, so that I can have enjoyable trips out on the water. Considering we typically go out on lakes rather than open ocean, I don’t really have to be afraid of any great whites. But just in case, I load my boat up with Mercury Premium Plus oil, so that if I do see any sharks, I can fly off faster than you can say “Look, there’s a shark!”

Smallmouth Fish in the Umpqua

One of the best places to catch smallmouth fish is in the Umpqua River located in Oregon. You might not consistently find the biggest fish there, but hundreds are caught by fishermen every single day! Bass and river herrings are the most common fish found in the Umpqua River, so if you have any desire to catch either of these, you’re definitely headed to the right place.

While you’re cruising around in your boat down the Umpqua River, you’ll be amazed at the beautiful scenery of the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua, one of the best sights that the Pacific coast of Oregon has to offer. If you’ve got a bottle of Mercury 2 Cycle Oil, you’ll likely be more than one step ahead of the other boaters and fishermen that you’ll encounter during your time on the river. In no time, you’ll have more smallmouth fish than you can carry, with just a little bit of effort and a boat running as smoothly as possible.
