PU9D0379-01_copy2-1024x682If you have recently purchased a 2 cycle outboard, there are a few things you need to do in order to get the most out of your investment. With a few tips and tricks, you can get the most out of the engine by ensuring it lasts through the years at top performance. The first few hours of use will dictate how well the engine performs for many years.

While breaking in the new engine, it is recommended to limit and vary the rpms. The top two things you need to watch out for with a two-stroke outboard are ethanol and water. Ethanol is know to cause fuel system issues that can ruin your outing.  Ethanol is also responsible for causing water in your fuel.  It is important to treat your fuel every tank with a fuel treatment such as Yamalube RingFree Plus.

Evinrude Oil for Lake Fishing

mediumWhen I was younger and living in Wisconsin, I used to go ice fishing fairly frequently with my father in the winters. Though it got me interested in fishing, I would often hear about some of my friends who would go to visit the Great Lakes and go fishing on their parents’ boats. We didn’t have a lot of money when I was growing up, so I was always a little jealous.

In my adulthood, I’ve got a high-paying job and more than enough money for a boat, so one of my favorite things to do is to take my dad on fishing trips, just like he did for me. However, instead of going ice fishing, we can load up my boat with Evinrude oil and take it out on a lake nearby so that our fishing experience can be even more exciting, and a lot less cold.

Planning a Surprise Trip with Outboard Motor Oil

RinkerOne of my best friends is turning thirty this weekend and our group of friends has been planning out a surprise boating trip for him for a while now. We’re all really excited for it, although it’s been challenging keeping it a surprise so that he doesn’t find out what we have in store for him. He knows he’s doing something with us, he just doesn’t quite know what.

I picked up plenty of outboard motor oil when we first started planning everything so that I wouldn’t have to think about it at the last minute. I’m the one with the boat, but my other friends did the planning aspects in regards to where we’ll be staying for the weekend and what the best lakes for boating and fishing were in our area.

Mercury 2 Cycle Oil Prevents You from Getting Stranded

piston2Whenever I go boating, I always try to make sure that my boat is in its best condition possible. There are a lot of reports where I live of boats breaking down and people getting stranded out on the ocean, which is something that I obviously would prefer to completely avoid. That’s why I always live by the mantra of always being as prepared as possible.

I’ve got plenty of Mercury 2 cycle oil that I use on my boat, as well as all of the other necessary products that are required for proper maintenance. These products can include fuel, fuel additives, cleaning supplies, replacement parts, and plenty of other things. I also have a satellite phone that I take with me in case I ever get stranded out on the ocean for whatever reason.

Mercury Oil 55 Gallon Drum is Great for Multiple Boats

55_gallon_drumIf you or your family have multiple boats, you’ll wind up going through oil a lot quicker than you’d imagine. I’ve always believed that being prepared for these sorts of thing is far better than finding yourself running out of necessary materials at an inopportune time. This is why I always try to either buy bulk amounts of oil or large containers of oil for my family.

I try to at the very least keep a Mercury oil 55 gallon drum in my garage; I usually pretend like it’s not there so that if I do forget oil, I have a large supply to fall back on. I do the same kind of thing with my bank accounts – pretending the money in your savings account isn’t actually there is a great way to budget; that’s how I’ve been able to afford multiple boats.

Boating Forever with Yamalube 2M

32228_pEver since I was a child, I’ve loved spending time on the water. My parents had a boat and I was constantly begging my dad to take me out fishing or just for a spin. I learned how to drive a boat early on, just so I’d be able to go out on my own boating expeditions earlier. As soon as I could afford it in my adulthood, I bought my own boat; I cared more about than having a car.

If it was convenient, I would probably live on a houseboat, honestly. It’s something that I’ve always considered doing, but there aren’t really any areas nearby where it’d be particularly convenient and I’ve got too much stuff. Until the day that I decide to switch over to a houseboat, I’ll be fine with my current boat, as long as I stay stocked up on Yamalube 2M.

Remembering Proper Maintenance with Evinrude XD 50 Oil

IMG_1328-1 Occasionally, I can be a little bit scatter-brained and forget to do something important. This was majorly the case the last time that I went boating; I completely forgot to put sunscreen on and I wound up with one of the worst burns I’ve ever had in my entire life. Ever since I did that, I’ve made a vow to make lists before I do things like this to ensure that I don’t forget anything important.

For instance, I’m planning a boating trip in a few days and so I generated a list of all of the things I need to do before I can make that happen. Obviously, I’ve got to remember sunscreen for the day I go out on the boat. I also have to remember to get some Evinrude XD 50 oil so that I can perform the proper maintenance beforehand.

Changing Your Boat Motor Oil

4d5d43_55893a3319e6911874a50252611a4b42.jpg_512Learning how to change the oil in my boat’s outboard motor has ultimately saved me so much time and money, because I don’t have to take it in to mechanics and spend a fortune having someone else do something so simple. Obviously, it’s quite a bit different from changing a car’s oil, but it’s still something that’s absolutely worth learning overall.

Generally, learning how to change the oil is something that is described in the manual that was purchased with the boat or with the outboard. The overall process tends to be draining the boat motor oil completely and then adding the oil from the drain hole. Once you’ve figured out to do these things, you’re pretty much able to change your boat’s oil!

Avoiding Seasickness With Evinrude XD 100 Oil In The Boat

seasickThere’s always been a problem with my wife and I in that I love going out boating and hanging out on the water and she’s never been a fan of it. The problem is that she’s always getting seasick. She gets motion sickness on planes and even in cars. Considering how often I’m boating, it’s a bit of an issue.

She really wanted to be able to join me out on the water, so she finally went to a doctor to get some medicine that would help her with her motion sickness. Things have been working really well for her since then. I’m able to fill up my boat with Evinrude XD 100 oil and go out on the lake with her, which is always nice.

Secluded Fishing With Yamalube 2M Oil

Boys-FishingWhen I was a kid and I used to go fishing with my dad, we’d usually stand at a bridge near a creek where there were a bunch of other dads with their kids teaching them how to fish. It was fun, but it always felt like it was loud enough to scare off the fish and you’d wind up getting your hooks tied to other people’s lines so often that it became a real nuisance.

These days, when I go fishing – with my dad, with my friends, or by myself – I skip over the bridge by the creek and instead, I take my boat out somewhere that’s a little bit more secluded to really get away from it all. Of course, I make sure that my boat is well maintained before I take it out by myself, always filling it up with Yamalube 2M oil.
